Ingredients:
12 ounces country sausage
2/3 cup shredded white cheddar
2 tablespoons Runamok Sugarmaker’s Cut Maple Syrup or your Syrup of your choice
1 large egg, separated (white for filling, yolk for brushing)
One 17.3-ounce package frozen puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
2 tablespoons Buona Cucina Everything Bagel Seasoning
East Shore Mustard of your choice (sold in store) or Whole-grain mustard, for serving
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Make the filling: In a bowl, mix sausage, shredded cheddar, maple syrup, and egg white until well combined.
Prepare the pastry: Lay out the puff pastry sheets and cut each in half lengthwise. Evenly divide the sausage mixture along the center of each strip.
Assemble the rolls: Whisk the egg yolk, then brush one edge of each pastry strip. Roll the pastry over the sausage filling and seal the edges. Cut each roll into 9 bite-sized pieces.
Bake: Place the bites on the prepared baking sheets, brush with the remaining egg yolk, and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown.
Serve: Enjoy warm with whole-grain mustard on the side for dipping.
